New York

The bodies of nine people killed during Israel's raid this week of a Gaza-bound aid convoy were flown to Turkey overnight, where information about there identities has begun to trickle out.

What has happened to the other ten victims?

It emerged on Thursday that one of the victims was a 19-year-old Turkish-American, Furkan Dogan. According to a forensic report released to news outlets, he he was shot at close range, with four bullets in his head and one in his chest.

According to ABC news, Dogan was a high school student studying social sciences in the town of Kayseri in central Turkey. He was born in the United States and moved to Turkey at the age of 2. He will be buried in his hometown tomorrow.

The New York Times reports that this revelation adds diplomatic complexity to the situation.

The other eight bodies are reported to be Turkish citizens. The deaths and many of the injuries reportedly occurred on one of the six ships, the Mavi Marmara, a Turkish vessel with hundreds of people on board.

Israel has kept the identities, nationalities, and even the exact number of people killed a secret since the attack on the ships on Monday morning. It is also not known exactly how the nine died, or where in Israel the bodies had been held.

Following the return of the bodies, public anger in Turkey continued to simmer.

“Turkey will never forgive this attack,” President Abdullah Gul said on NTV television.

“Turkish-Israeli relations can never be as before from now on.”

  2. I am reading and posting now. It seems the bodies might have become shark food. If that be the case, I can almost hear the cries and moans of shekels lost rather than gained by the sale of parts!
