Ahmed Khatib
I just remembered today is Father's Day.
Best wishes to all those Daddies of all ages out there who do the job right! and YOU ARE LEGION!
My "gift" to you all is a 4 part film that I just watched, the story of a Palestinian father who lost his son to IDF bullets in 2005. This is NOT a political film but, of course everything about Palestine is political. Out of respect for the subject matter, the film has avoided a political stance, focusing only on the human interest. I remember seeing a short video of this man and his journey when it happened and being very upset at the attitude of the Orthodox Jewish father interview in that film.
This film brings us forward to today and how things have changed with these people. Perhaps their meeting was one of the most awkward social experiences you will ever witness, but its significance was vast for the individuals concerned. It would be very hard to imagine members of that immediate Orthodox family ever consider killing Palestinians.
Please enjoy this humble journey of a Father, a man worthy of emulation. His spirit is huge.
