This is not a fancy kitchen photo but it simply brings back memories. We had such a woodstove at our summer cottage and I can still hear the sharp clang as the pieces were replaced. The smell of the fire. We cooked on it; meals tasted absolutely wonderful. Maybe it was because we were hungry from being outside all day, but it was natural and tasty. That includes Mom's pies from the fruits we gathered from around the lake. I got my first baking lessons on that thing, another story for another time.

I know a woman who grew up with spina bifida. The first time I saw her she was 3 and riding a skateboard for transportation with her toddler buddies who treated her like everyone else. She is now a mother and leads an excellent life. The difference, she was taught gratitude. This girl does not look to be nearly as damaged as our friend either but I should not judge her. Her life is tough most definitely.
