This is how I felt during Operation Cast Lead. The feeling is a constant weight to body, mind, spirit. Smiling is a tad more strained.

 

There was a film by the excellent John Pilger now totally erased from the internet on Israeli propaganda techniques utilized during Operation Cast Lead. It has been completely disappeared! In it he exposed Israel's many levels of public relations, each one devoted to a specific part of the human race. The same story will be told in different ways to elicit the proper response from each sector of humanity. America. Europe. Israel proper. Jews around the world. Etc etc.

I spent this afternoon with my grandson. We wrestled, read and played with dinosaurs and sharks for a few hours. Glorious fun. He is a couple of years younger than this child. Even then, I was thinking of this boy's family, robbed of his potential. He was being raised in hope as can be noted here.

 

Reunited at last. This soldier and his K-9 companion were extremely injured in the same explosion. When he is ready to return to civilian life, they will be together. This is their first meeting many months after the event. Not a dry eye in the house.
