CATERPILLAR WITHHOLDING SALE OF DP DEATH BULLDOZERS TO HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATORS!

A D9 bulldozer in action. Another orchard and ancestral home demolished in Palestine.

American Corporation Taking Stand For Human Rights in NOT allowing it's products to be used as Tools of Destruction

I have remarkable news. The Israeli press is reporting that Caterpillar is withholding the delivery of tens of D9 bulldozers ~ valued at $50 million ~ to the Israeli military.(1)

These are weaponized bulldozers that are used to illegally destroy homes and orchards of Palestinian families. And they are the very same bulldozers as the one that killed a 23-year-old American peace activist named Rachel Corrie seven years ago when she tried to protect the home of the Nasrallah family in Gaza.

That’s why the next part of the story is even more amazing. The news reports say that the deliveries have been suspended now because Rachel’s parents, Cindy and Craig Corrie, are bringing a civil suit against the government of Israel in a court in Tel Aviv.(2)

Rachel did not know this was the last minute of her short life when she took her stand before the behemoth D9.

The deliveries are to stop during the length of the trial. We take this as an indirect admission by the company that these bulldozers are being used to violate human rights and to violate the law. The Corrie story is sadly just one of thousands of stories of loss and pain.

A suspension of the sale of bulldozers is what we have been asking Caterpillar for over seven years now. This is a great win, but this is no time to let off the pressure.

Caterpillar and the U.S. government have neither confirmed nor denied the news. And news reports describe the company’s move as a temporary decision only. To urge the U.S. government to make this policy permanent, please sign the U.S. Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation’s petition to President Obama to continue this new policy.

We need to hold both our government and corporations profiting from the occupation accountable. TIAA-CREF, one of the largest financial services in the United States, invests heavily in Caterpillar (over $250 million as of their last financial report). Please ask TIAA-CREF to divest from Caterpillar and other companies that profit from the Israeli occupation.

If TIAA-CREF divests from Caterpillar,
it will have a rippling impact everywhere.

Since 2003, Jewish Voice for Peace has been filing annual shareholder resolutions to pressure Caterpillar with a growing coalition of interfaith partners. We’ve organized protests. We’ve taken over a CAT dealership. We’ve worked in support of Presbyterian and Methodist divestment initiatives from the company, and with your help, we are asking TIAA-CREF to divest from Caterpillar as well.

Caterpillar has never budged… until now.

Caterpillar’s irresponsible behavior comes with a heavy price tag. In the last ten years, at least 11,795 homes have been demolished.(3) These statistics, gruesome as they are, cannot do justice to the pain of so many families, to their razed livelihoods and their shattered dreams.

The picture above does not come from an earthquake scene. It depicts the man-made destruction and the hopelessness that the Caterpillar bulldozers bring at the hand of the soldiers who wield them. Let’s make sure that this is the last picture of this kind we get to see.

Thank you and shabbat shalom,

Sydney Levy

MONSANTO: GOOD NEWS! EVIL MONSANTO BEGINS TO REAP ITS JUST DESERTS

Friends, I have the sad news to pass on that Monsanto is having problems these days. Yes, Monsanto, THAT Monsanto. The one company that is up in the most internationally hated companies on the planet is having a few problems. Rather than cheer, it behooves us to study what their problems are, and perhaps how we can help acerbate the situation for this corporation of greedy, malevolent fiends.

Below we see some news and opinion about Monsanto from Joseph Mercola’s website, www.mercola.com:

Good News – Evil Monsanto Finally Reaping Its Just Desserts
Source: New York Times, October 5, 2010
New York Times,
October 5, 2010

“Monsanto, the giant biotechnology agriculture company that created genetically modified corn, soybeans and herbicides, isn’t riding so high this year in the stocks department, as news comes in that its products aren’t working like they’d hoped.

According to the New York Times, weeds are becoming immune to Monsanto’s herbicide Roundup, and its latest genetically modified, 8-gene corn is a flop, producing yields no higher than the company’s less expensive corn, which contains only three foreign genes.

“Monsanto has already been forced to sharply cut prices on SmartStax and on its newest soybean seeds, called Roundup Ready 2 Yield, as sales fell below projections,” the Times said. “And the Justice Department is investigating Monsanto for possible antitrust violations.”

“Until now, Monsanto’s main challenge has come from opponents of genetically modified crops, who have slowed their adoption in Europe and some other regions. Now, however, the skeptics also include farmers and investors who were once in Monsanto’s camp.”

Monsanto was named “company of the year” by Forbes Magazine in December. Last week, television stock market commentator Jim Cramer said it “may be the worst stock of 2010,” the Times said.

Crestone and Beyond commentary:
That Forbes named Monsanto company of the year is a disgusting and difficult irony, and evidence of insider influence and propaganda control. They are the company of the year all right, but not for any salutary reasons.
Dr. Mercola’s Comments:

Since the 1980s, Monsanto has become the world leader in genetic modification of seeds, succeeding in at least 674 biotechnology patents, more than any other company ~ and they showed no signs of stopping … until now.

It seems Monsanto’s glory days may be coming to an end, which is a refreshing turnaround from last December, when Forbes declared this evil corporation “company of the year” ~ for reasons that truly boggle the mind.

Now, the tide is turning, and as the Times pointed out, signs are suggesting that Monsanto’s “winning streak” is over:

Monsanto’s newest genetically modified (GM) product, SmartStax corn, provides no greater yields than older products, despite being more expensive

Weeds are growing resistant to Monsanto’s Roundup

The Justice Department is investigating Monsanto for possible antitrust violations

Already, shares of Monsanto’s stock have fallen 42 percent since January, and earnings for the fiscal year are expected to be well under projections.

To say this news makes me overjoyed is an understatement, as this company represents one of the biggest threats to your future health, and that of the planet.

Monsanto Monstrosities Swept Under the Rug

Why is Monsanto top on my hit list of evil corporations?

I will just post a list of my posts on Monsanto and you will see why I am so torn up about this. NOT! I see this as yet another crack in the agenda and every crack that helps us is a good crack!
Here is just a short list of the many improprieties and outright crimes committed by Monsanto:
Suing small farmers for patent infringement after Monsanto’s GM seeds spread wildly into surrounding farmers’ fields, contaminating their conventional crops

Secretly discharging PCB-laden toxic waste into an Alabama creek, and dumping millions of pounds of PCBs into open-pit landfills for decades after PCBs were banned in the US for being a possible carcinogen.

Being found guilty of bribery to bypass Indonesian law requiring an environmental assessment review for its genetically engineered cotton.

Last year, the supreme court of France found Monsanto guilty of falsely advertising its herbicide Roundup as “biodegradable” and “environmentally friendly.” Scientific evaluation discovered that glyphosate, the active ingredient in RoundUp, is acutely toxic to fish and birds and can kill beneficial insects and soil organisms that maintain ecological balance. Additionally, the surfactant ingredient in Roundup is more acutely toxic than glyphosate itself, and the combination of the two is even more toxic.

In 2007, the South African Advertising Standards Authority also found Monsanto guilty of lying when advertising that “no negative reactions to Genetically Modified food have been reported.”

According to one EPA scientist, Monsanto doctored studies and covered-up dioxin contamination of a wide range of its products. She concluded that the company’s behaviour constituted “a long pattern of fraud.”

In 1999, the New York Times exposed that Monsanto’s PR firm, Burson Marsteller, had paid fake “pro-GMO” food demonstrators to counteract a group of anti-biotech protesters outside a Washington, DC FDA meeting.
This should give you a clue as to why I’m thrilled that Monsanto appears to be falling out of favor, at least in the stock market realm.

Be Warned: Monsanto Has People on the Inside

Despite their falling stock prices, I don’t expect Monsanto to disappear from the radar.

Obama’s latest Monsanto pick,

ELENA KAGAN

First, we spit out our coffee over President Obama’s appointments of former Monsanto goon Michael Taylor as Food Safety [sic] Czar and ‘biotech governor of the year’ Tom Vilsack as Secretary of Agriculture. Then we choked on our grits when he made Monsanto lobbyist, Islam Siddiqui, the US Ag Trade Representative. Now, the real food movement has completely lost its appetite with Obama’s nomination of Monsanto defender, Elena Kagan, to the US Supreme Court.

In December 2009, in her capacity as Solicitor General, Kagan intervened in the first case on which SCOTUS will rule involving genetically modified Crops, Monsanto v Geertson Seed. She defended Monsanto’s fight to contaminate the environment with its GM alfalfa, not the American people’s right to safe feed and a protected environment.
They will continue to produce as many genetically modified crops and chemicals as the world population will accept.

And they’ve got help at every turn, including from leaders in the U.S. government.

Michael Taylor, a former vice president of public policy and chief lobbyist at Monsanto Company, is the deputy commissioner for foods at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Who is Michael Taylor?

He is the person who “oversaw the creation of GMO policy,” according to Jeffrey Smith, the leading spokesperson on the dangers of GM foods. Smith continues:

“If GMOs are indeed responsible for massive sickness and death, then the individual who oversaw the FDA policy that facilitated their introduction holds a uniquely infamous role in human history. That person is Michael Taylor. He had been Monsanto’s attorney before becoming policy chief at the FDA. Soon after, he became Monsanto’s vice president and chief lobbyist.”

HIDDEN DANGERS IN KIDS' MEALS PARTS 1~3

x

The FDA policy being referred to is the 1992 GMO policy, which stated:

“The agency is not aware of any information showing that foods derived by these new methods [genetic engineering] differ from other foods in any meaningful or uniform way.”

In reality, there was major concern among FDA scientists that GM foods were in fact different than natural foods, and that their creation could prompt unknown and unpredictable health problems.

Former Iowa Governor Tom Vilsack, now the Secretary of Agriculture, is also widely regarded as a shill for biotech giants like Monsanto (he even reportedly often travels in Monsanto’s jet).

There are other less noticeable connections too, such as Sharon Long, a former member of Monsanto’s board of directors who was part of Obama’s scientific advisory team during the election/campaign.

Let’s Really Give Monsanto the Boot

This could be the beginning of the end for Monsanto … if we can continue to drive the momentum that’s forming against the creation and proliferation of genetically modified organisms (GMOs).

The first step you have already done, and that is to get informed. You can continue to spread the word further by sharing this article with your friends and family.
Next, hit Monsanto where it counts … their bottom line. By boycotting all GM foods and instead supporting organic (and local) farmers who do not use Monsanto’s GM seeds, you are using your wallet to make your opinions known.
Most people want to avoid GMOs but it is virtually impossible to do so, since the government prevents GMO labeling.

However, Jeffery Smith has compiled a resource for you to avoid the government block of information. It is the free Non-GMO Shopping Guide. We realize that with the challenging economy it is very difficult for many to donate money to help this cause, so we are merely asking for your time and connections with your family and friends.

You can really help by making this message go viral. So if you are convinced that GMO foods should not be in the US, please send this information to everyone you know; post it on Facebook and Twitter…

You can also print out the Non-GMO Shopping Guide and give it to your friends and family.

If you feel more ambitious you can also order the Non-GMO Shopping Tips brochure in bulk, and bring them to the grocery stores in your area. Talk to the owner or manager and get permission to post them in their store.

There are a number of different ways for you to get actively involved during Non-GMO (genetically modified organisms) Month … which may as well be called Non-Monsanto Month, too, given that they’re the leader in the GMO industry.

Here is a list of Action Items for you to pick and choose from:

Distribute WIDELY the Non-GMO Shopping Guide to help you identify and avoid foods with GMOs. Remember to look for products (including organic products) that feature the Non-GMO Project Verified Seal to be sure that at-risk ingredients have been tested for GMO content.

Download the Non-GMO Shopping Tips brochure and keep it with you whenever you shop, or download the free iPhone application that is available in the iTunes store. You can find it by searching for ShopNoGMO in the applications.

You can also order the Non-GMO Shopping Tips brochure in bulk and give it to your family and friends.

Urge food manufacturers to join the Non-GMO Project and become Non-GMO Project Verified. This is currently the only way for manufacturers to get around the fact that there’s no GM-labeling system.

Urge your local food retailers to join the Non-GMO Project’s Supporting Retailer Program.

If your budget allows support this urgent mission by generously donating to the Institute of Responsible Technology.

Bring the film “Hidden Dangers in Kid’s Meals” to your local access TV station, or perhaps your child’s school, along with some educational material specifically designed for teachers and educators.

Share Your Milk on Drugs ~ Just Say No!, SHARE  Everything You Have to Know About Dangerous Genetically Modified Foods with everyone you know. Post them to your Facebook page, or email the links to your network of friends and family.

Together, We Control the Future of Our Food

Please join us in this important campaign. Do as much or as little as you can. Maybe you can’t make a donation to IRT, but you can distribute 20 Non-GMO shopping guides to your closest family and friends.

Please, support this urgent mission by donating to the Institute of Responsible Technology, a non-profit organization.

Together, we can make a difference. Together, we can reach the tipping point and push GMOs out of our food supply.

GIRLS BEGINNING PUBERTY AROUND NINE

With the rise in the perversion known as pedophilia, I would imagine that the addition of breasts on young girls would ruin the appeal of  Miley Cyrus and friend, slutted out to advertise their new children's "lingerie line".

Of course it is Terribly Wrong that this is being done or happening to our young girls. on both societal and medical levels. However, the societal messages we all deal with are completely contradictory. It all began with Madonna sexualizing little kids in the early 80's.

Normal nine-year-olds. Much happier eyes!

Medicine is expressing upset, parents are appalled, with the possible exception of Billy Rae Cyrus who just cannot wait to pimp his daughters more perversely.

So fashion and culture are pushing little girls to grow up faster than fast, and sluttify at a young age. Meanwhile the interest in pedophilia, and girl on girl sex seems to also be blowing all out of control. Excuse me for being a little confused.

It seems to me that all of this confusion is there for a reason: after all there are no accidents. Beauty pageants for infants? Little girls dancing around poles on television? Lingerie for children? Pedophilia on the rise? Chemicals altering puberty levels as well as sexual preferences?

Decent parents are upset and want answers.
Meanwhile, the heavy and in some states, mandagory, marketing of Gardasil continues with the unspoken insinuation that sex for young girls is inevitable

GROWING numbers of girls are reaching puberty before the age of 10, is raising fears of increased sexual activity among a new generation of children.

Scientists believe the phenomenon could be linked to obesity or exposure to chemicals in the food chain, and is putting girls at greater long-term risk of breast cancer.

Shades of Lolita!

A study has revealed that breast development in a sample of 1,000 girls started at an average age of 9 years and 10 months ~ an entire year earlier than when a similar cohort was examined in 1991.

The research was carried out in Denmark in 2006, the latest year for which figures were available, but experts believe the trend applies to Britain and other parts of Europe. Data from America also point to the earlier onset of puberty.

Scientists warn that such young girls are ill-equipped to cope with sexual development when they are still at primary school.

Fashion paints her as knowing it all,
possessing the ennui worthy of an ancient starlet,
but she is just a child, a pedophile's delight.

“We were very surprised that there had been such a change in a period of just 15 years,” said Anders Juul, head of the Department of Growth and Reproduction at the University hospital in Copenhagen, a world leader in the study of hormones and growth.

“If girls mature early, they run into teenage problems at an early age and they’re more prone to diseases later on. We should be worried about this regardless of what we think the underlying reasons might be. It’s a clear sign that something is affecting our children, whether it’s junk food, environmental chemicals or lack of physical activity.”

A little early for high heels, Suri?

Hitting puberty early can mean longer exposure to oestrogen, which is a factor in breast cancer. There is also a greater risk of heart disease.

A number of artificially produced chemicals have been blamed for interfering with sexual development, notably bisphenol A, a plastic found in the lining of tin cans and babies’ feeding bottles.

Canada has begun allover bans on bishpenol A  or this among many other negative impacts it has on the estrogen and sexual development of both genders.

Juul’s research team is now testing blood and urine samples from girls in the study to see if a direct link can be drawn between early sexual maturation and bisphenol A.

This could also be why young males are reaching sexual maturity and later and later years as well. And, their private anatomy is smaller, they are more prone to development of breast tissue.

Another factor in puberty could be diet. Children are eating more than previous generations and growing bigger ~ and in many cases becoming obese.

There has been a steady lowering in the onset of puberty. In the 19th century, it was at about 15 for girls and 17 for boys.
*
It's not just scientific studies suggesting these figures are now obsolete; anecdotal reports of boys dropping out of choir schools when their voices break at age 12 or 13 are now widespread. According to Richard Stanhope, an expert in childhood hormonal disorders, specialists are now convinced that early puberty is a real phenomenon.
*
The international standard for normal puberty in white girls was set in the 1960s at 12 for the age when periods begin and at about 14 for boys when their voices break and their growth surges.

Use a little common sense folks! Feed your children estrogen and mess around with the balance of nature and this is what happens. "..we don't understand." How LUDICROUS.

A more recent consensus in Britain has proved elusive. “Although we don’t have clear data here, there is evidence the same thing [as in Denmark] is happening for reasons that we don’t understand,” said Richard Sharpe, head of the Medical Research Council’s human reproductive sciences unit in Edinburgh.

“We don’t know if this is the result of better nutrition or environmental factors, but it does create social problems for girls who are already living in a sexualised society.”

Sharpe said boys had also been affected by the phenomenon. Choir schools have reported an increasing number of boys dropping out because their voices had broken at the age of 12 or 13.

Richard Stanhope, an expert in hormonal disorders in children who recently retired from Great Ormond Street hospital, said specialists in his field believed they were seeing more children going through early puberty.

Early puberty can be hard on children who are mature physically but still young emotionally, experts warn.
*
“All the things we experience as teenagers are difficult enough to cope with, but when it happens at 10 or 11 it is much worse,” he said.
*
“These children are also at a much higher risk of being sexually abused because it is hard for some adults to understand and behave appropriately towards them.”

Girls who reach puberty early often find themselves teased at school. “I had to wear a bra at 9,” said one girl, who did not want to be named. “I used to pretend to be ill to get out of changing for PE.

“The worst part was men coming on to me as though I was an adult when actually I was 11.”

A study published in the journal Public Health Nutrition last Friday showed a link between high meat consumption and earlier puberty in girls.

Researchers at Brighton University found that 49% of girls who ate meat 12 times a week at the age of 7 had reached puberty by the age of 12 1/2, compared with 35% of those who ate meat four times a week or less

LADY GAGA AND THE DEATH OF SEX

Sunday Times Magazine
September 13th, 2010
By Camile Paglia

An erotic breaker of taboos or an asexual copycat? Camille Paglia, America's foremost cultural critic, demolishes an icon

Lady Gaga is the first major star of the digital age. Since her rise, she has remained almost continually on tour. Hence, she is a moving target who has escaped serious scrutiny. She is often pictured tottering down the street in some outlandish get-up and fright wig. Most of what she has said about herself has not been independently corroborated… “Music is a lie”, “Art is a lie”, “Gaga is a lie”, and “I profusely lie” have been among Gaga’s pronouncements, but her fans swallow her line whole…

She constantly touts her symbiotic bond with her fans, the “little monsters”, who she inspires to “love themselves” as if they are damaged goods in need of her therapeutic repair. “You’re a superstar, no matter who you are!” She earnestly tells them from the stage, while their cash ends up in her pockets.

She told a magazine with messianic fervour: “I love my fans more than any artist who has ever lived.” She claims to have changed the lives of the disabled, thrilled by her jewelled parody crutches in the Paparazzi video.

Although she presents herself as the clarion voice of all the freaks and misfits of life, there is little evidence that she ever was one. Her upbringing was comfortable and eventually affluent, and she attended the same upscale Manhattan private school as Paris and Nicky Hilton.

There is a monumental disconnect between Gaga’s melodramatic self-portrayal as a lonely, rebellious, marginalized artist and the powerful corporate apparatus that bankrolled her makeover and has steamrollered her songs into heavy rotation on radio stations everywhere.

For two years, I have spent an irritating amount of time trying to avoid Gaga’s catchy but depthless hits. Lady Gaga is a manufactured personality, and a recent one at that.

Photos of Stefani Germanotta just a few years ago show a bubbly brunette with a glowing complexion.

The Gaga of world fame, however, with her heavy wigs and giant sunglasses (rudely worn during interviews) looks either simperingly doll-like or ghoulish, without a trace of spontaneity.

Every public appearance, even absurdly at airports where most celebrities want to pass incognito, has been lavishly scripted in advance with a flamboyant outfit and bizarre hairdo assembled by an invisible company of elves.
Marilyn, sexy, an original, imitated by many, but always a lady.

Furthermore, despite showing acres of pallid flesh in the fetish-bondage garb of urban prostitution, Gaga isn’t sexy at all ~ she’s like a gangly marionette or plasticized android.

How could a figure so calculated and artificial, so clinical and strangely antiseptic, so stripped of genuine eroticism have become the icon of her generation?

Can it be that Gaga represents the exhausted end of the sexual revolution?

In Gaga’s manic miming of persona after persona, over-conceptualised and claustrophobic, we may have reached the limit of an era…

Gaga imitating Madonna who was imitating Marilyn!
Gaga has borrowed so heavily from Madonna (as in her latest video-Alejandro) that it must be asked, at what point does homage become theft?

However, the main point is that the young Madonna was on fire.

This is NOT fire!!!

She was indeed the imperious Marlene Dietrich’s true heir.

For Gaga, sex is mainly decor and surface;
she’s like a laminated piece of ersatz rococo furniture.

Alarmingly, Generation Gaga can’t tell the difference.

Meat? Sexy? Dead meat? Sexier? Huh?

Is it the death of sex?

Perhaps the symbolic status
that sex had for a century has gone kaput;
that blazing trajectory is over…

Gaga seems comet-like, a stimulating burst of novelty,
even though she is a ruthless recycler of other people’s work.

Imitating Jane Fonda in Barbaralla

She is the diva of déjà vu. Gaga has glibly appropriated from performers like Cher, Jane Fonda as Barbarella, Gwen Stefani and Pink, as well as from fashion muses like Isabella Blow and Daphne Guinness.

Drag queens, whom Gaga professes to admire, are usually far sexier in many of her over-the-top outfits than she is.

Peeping dourly through all that tat is Gaga’s limited range of facial expressions.

Her videos repeatedly thrust that blank,
lugubrious face at the camera and us;
it’s creepy and coercive.

Marlene and Madonna gave the impression, true or false, of being pansexual.

Another original aped ~ poorly.

Gaga, for all her writhing and posturing, is asexual. Going off to the gym in broad daylight, as Gaga recently did, dressed in a black bustier, fishnet stockings and stiletto heels isn’t sexy ~ it’s sexually dysfunctional.

Compare Gaga’s insipid songs, with their nursery-rhyme nonsense syllables, to the title and hypnotic refrain of the first Madonna song and video to bring her attention on MTV, Burning Up, with its elemental fire imagery and its then-shocking offer of fellatio. In place of Madonna’s valiant life force, what we find in Gaga is a disturbing trend towards mutilation and death…

Gaga is in way over her head with her avant-garde pretensions… She wants to have it both ways ~ to be hip and avant-garde and yet popular and universal, a practitioner of gung-ho “show biz”. Most of her worshippers seem to have had little or no contact with such powerful performers as Tina Turner or Janis Joplin, with their huge personalities and deep wells of passion

 Even over 70, Tina Turner,
puts Beyonce through her paces and is one sexy woman.

Generation Gaga doesn’t identify with powerful vocal styles because their own voices have atrophied: they communicate mutely via a constant stream of atomised, telegraphic text messages. Gaga’s flat affect doesn’t bother them because they’re not attuned to facial expressions.

Gaga’s fans are marooned in a global technocracy of fancy gadgets but emotional poverty.
Even the normally vibrant Beyonce has become a sexless nothing beside her, both of them in front of a pussy wagon! Amazing feat Ms. Gaga.

Borderlines have been blurred between public and private: reality TV shows multiply, cell phone conversations blare everywhere; secrets are heedlessly blabbed on Facebook and Twitter.

Hence, Gaga gratuitously natters on about her vagina…
