  1. I've never been to Argentina so I don't know anything about their pigeons, lol. I'm from New York City, and the pigeons in NYC do sh*t on everyone and everything without discrimination and without caring in the least bit if they sh*t on Jew synagogues, Catholic churches, Protestant churches, Muslim mosques, Hindu temples, New Age auditoriums, et. al.. They sh*t on the rich, the poor, the middle-class. And I do have to say we humans do deserve it. I don't care what group anyone belongs to, we all do deserve it. A little humble pie never killed anyone.

Long story. I'll try to make it short. I saved a pigeon's life once. It had been hit by a car. Its wing was broken. It was laying in the street struggling. I picked it up, brought it on the sidewalk. Snapped the wing bones back into place. The pigeon could fly again. It flew up about 100 feet, circled around, then flew down to me, landed on my shoulder and started nipping gently on my ear lobe. It was very gentle, it was making cooing noises. It was saying "thank you" to me.

I saved a man's life once in NY who fell face flat on the subway track. He was drunk. He walked to the edge of the platform, then fell face flat on the subway track. Jumped down, picked him up, put him back on the waiting platform. Called the cops. Very long story. Short version : I was treated like garbage by everyone for saving the man's life. By the woman at the subway token booth, by the cops, and by the people on the platform. And they were of the same race as the man I saved. [ He was not of my White race ].

I tried in NYC for awhile to speak up against Union corruption. Another long story. I was treated by garbage for it. And many of the people who treated me like garbage were the very ones the Union was stealing from. [ They were of my same race and religious/cultural background].

I always fed the pigeons when I lived in NYC. I always liked them. I was always secretly happy they sh*t on everybody and everything, though I rarely told anyone that, lol.

A pest control company in NYC during the turn of the 19/20th century lost a contract with the city government. The company was stuck with pesticide poison in their warehouse. Not knowing what else to do, and wanting to sell the poison, started a city-wide full-blown advertising campaign in all the newspapers that the pigeons were spreading all kinds of diseases. That's how the meme the "pigeons spread all kinds of horrible diseases" started in NYC.

The fact is, us humans spread a lot more disease than the pigeons do, physical, mental, emotional, spiritual disease. I hope and I trust the pigeons in Argentina and all around the world do just as the NYC pigeons do. Good for the pigeons, is what I say. Pigeons know gratitude when gratitude is called for, and know how to mock when mockery is called for, so of course they sh*t on our human world all the time. We hardly deserve better.

I'm still -- I really don't have the words -- I'm still very much moved and shaken by your article about what happened to the Germans immediately after WW2 -- "Hellstorm: Devil's Cauldron". As if the fire bombing of Dresden, the city of hospitals, the city of refugees, an oasis in the middle of a raging war, a civilized city in the middle of a world gone war-crazy, wasn't bad enough, wasn't "punishment" enough. I don't have the words.

    1. Thank you for your great sharing reply Salvatore. Right now I am really annoyed. I just spent about 30 minutes writing you a great reply and hit the wrong button and SIGNED OUT instead of published it. There is no way I can recreate all that I wrote, honest, so just know I really appreciated what you had to say.

I am SO TICKED off right now! LOL. I have to go take a walk.....

    2. Wonderful story Salvatore. Loved it. Thank You. Appreciate pigeons too, BTW. They can sh*t anywhere they want as far as I'm concerned. Know the pigeons of Venezuela very well. They're civilized too, just like the NYC ones are. LOL

    3. @ Noor

I know how you feel. There have been quite a few times I spent a good amount of time writing long posts and then accidentally hitting the wrong button/icon and I lost my work to the black hole of cyber-universe. It's very frustrating and exasperating. I do what you do. I walk away from my computer to go out and get some fresh air. It's the only sensible thing to do in such times. I know how you feel. I understand completely, for I know exactly how it feels.

I just finished reading your "OMGOSH I DIDN'T". I'm very sorry you lost the links. Even with the links lost, your website is a wealth of information, so please don't get too angry or too upset with yourself. Your website is still as excellent as ever.

      @ Jo

Thank you for the compliment, Jo. Pigeons are wonderful and lots of fun, and so are those of us who appreciate pigeons, LOL.
