DRONE BADGES: PICTURES WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS


Here we have some uniform patches of those gutless er..  brave USAF drone pilots and crew on this military memorabilia site. Apparently these are semi-official ‘morale patches‘. The two patches at the bottom are the more restrained, official patches, being worn by British drone pilots and crew of RAF 39 Squadron.

    There is a local company (small town boy makes good) that trains various fields related to drones (flying, maintenance, etc).

    When speaking with one of the men that work there at a softball game, the subject of my unemployment came up and he asked if I had applied at his place.

    I said that I could not work for a company that serviced killers from afar. He immediately became agitated and said, "We SAVE lives".

    I told him that simply looking at the badges proves him wrong, but I had no idea that they were ALL that way.

    Save lives, my ass.

    I understand ... and having ethics can be a bitch.... the best bitch around, my friend.

    I know my daughter's friends who are highly trained in computer programming and software design etc most of them have refused work that might have potential military applications. My kid turned down one such job when student loans were screaming at her to take anything. Thank goodness she found work creating things for positive applications!

    And, Bman, WELL DONE for your decision. I have never held an ethically compromised job .... it has been tough and has resulted in me being poorer that that proverbial church mouse, but between that and not doing the credit card thing, it has been worth it.

    IF MORE people refused as you did... refused to serve, refused to work on compromising things, perhaps there might be a bit of change.... perhaps... because we know there are a lot of thoughtless greedy jerks out there.
