THE CALL: 1986: I STILL BELIEVE

Ooh
Ooh
Bring it up as we go along
Mm
Oh
I've been in a cave for forty days
Only a spark to light my way
I wanna give out, I wanna give in
This is our crime
This is our sin
But I still believe, I still believe
Through the pain and through the grief
Through the lives, through the storms
Through the cries and through the wars
Oh, I still believe
Lie, lie, lie
Lie, lie, lie
Ooh
I'm flat on my back out at sea
Hopin' these waves don't cover me
I'm turned and tossed upon the waves
When the darkness comes I feel the grave
But I still believe, I still believe
Through the cold and through the heat
Through the rain and through the tears
Through the crowds and through the cheers
Oh, I still believe
Lie, lie, lie
Oh-oh
I'll march this road, I'll climb this hill
Up on my knees if I have to
I'll take my place up on this stage
I'll wait 'til the end of time for you like everybody else
Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh, oh yeah
Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh
Ooh-ooh-ooh
I'm out on my own walkin' the streets
I look at the faces that I meet
I feel like I, like I want to go home
What do I feel?
What do I know?
But I still believe, I still believe
Through the shame and through the grief
Through the heartache, through the tears
Through the waiting, through the years
For people like us in places like this
We need all the hope that we can get
Oh, I still believe
Lie, lie, lie
Oh, yeah yeah
Lie, lie, lie

  2. The Call was a great band that got little attention aside from 120 Minutes on MTV. I had two of their cassette tapes back in the 1980's, "Scene Beyond Dreams" & "Reconciled" and played the heck out of them. I replaced "Reconciled" with the CD but "Scene Beyond Dreams" was never reissued on CD and is only available on cassette and LP. I managed to download the files and have that now too. Michael Been's voice is so unique and inspiring. Music with a message from The Call that I highly recommend!

  3. Sorry but I need to add an update to my comment. After I posted it, I found out that Mr. Been was a member of the "one eye club" which means the message of his music (he wrote most of the band's songs) appears to be dark side influenced. None of the lyrics actually mention our Savior Jesus although they can be construed as Christian based which is the devil's trickery at work. Plus the fact he associated with satanist Bono makes me think his fallen soul was captured and he was channeling demonic forces. Sadly, I have discovered over the years that most popular music was/is designed to keep us in sin and keep the Good Lord out of our lives. Popular music was/is one of the tools that satan uses to weave his evil into our lives. I've discarded almost all the music I grew up listening to once I learned the truth about how music influences our lives. There is a lot of information online about this subject and it's worth your time to learn more about the powerful influence music has on our souls. The Holy Spirit will help to reveal to you the true nature of many things of this world including music so allow him to be your guide. May God bless all my brothers and sisters and lead all souls to heaven especially those most in need of his mercy.

  4. I had a feeling you wouldn't post my updated comment. I didn't mean to offend you and I know it's hard to break away from things that you're sentimentally attached to such as your fondness for the band "The Call". It was hard for me too in the beginning so you're not alone. I used to feel the same way until I discovered the truth about what it can do.

Since I don't know you personally and what your beliefs are, I can only say that if you believe that Jesus is your Lord and Savior, he wants you to know the truth about everything in this world. I know personally that it was hard for me to accept that so many things that I was involved in were keeping me from God. I love music and it was always a part of my life without realizing the damaging effect it had on me. When God became the center of my life, I renounced my past life with satan and closed the door to all of his devices including a lot of music that I used to listen to. Jesus is my Lord and I am a new creation Old things have passed away; now all things become new in Jesus' name. I am delivered from this present evil world and seated with Christ in heavenly places. Praise Jesus!

The Holy Spirit leads and will guide you into all the truth. He gives you understanding, discernment, and comprehension so you are preserved from the snares of the evil one.

Here is a link to an article that explains how music effects the mind and it will help you understand why it was and is part of satan's toolbox.
