I'M SICK OF 63 YEARS OF NAKBA

To reply to the Gaza youth Manifesto, and with no additional words to the ones spoken with true heart on this video, we give you, The Manifesto. A simple, true, self-explanatory, expression of what we're sick of.

As these days mark the 63rd memory of the Nakba, our people all around the world, revolt, and object to the injustice and hatred we are met with on a day to day basis, just because we're Palestinians and just because we exist.

I urge your humanity and your conscience, to spread on this video, so the 15th of May 1948, wouldn't ever be forgot, and so Palestinians would once more have their freedom and rights back; especially the right of return.

I´m sick of The Wall
I´m sick of the checkpoints between Palestinian cities
I´m sick of illegal Israeli settlers and settlements
I´m sick of having the Hebrew language on my ID card
I´m sick of people not knowing anything about our history
but knowing so much about Jewish history
I´m sick of people ignoring the Palestinian Right of Return
and accepting the Jewish Law of Return
I´m sick of the Oslo Agreement which no one here
wanted in the first place
I´m sick of the Palestinian Authority
having zero authority
I´m sick of watching my father being humiliated at checkpoints
by people my age and younger
I´m sick of my international friends having to lie about
coming to visit; being interrogated, strip searched
and sometimes deported in the process
I´m sick of people not understanding
what “Occupation” is
I´m sick of being scared all the time
I´m sick of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
being a normal state of being here in Palestine
I´m sick of how ineffective the UN has become
I´m sick of International Humanitarian Law
not applying to the State of Israel
I´m sick of how fighting for basic human rights for Palestinians
or being critical of Israeli policy
is so often labeled “anti-Semitic”
I´m sick of the fact that everybody forgets I´m a Semite
I´m sick of hearing Israelis complain about discrimination
when the State of Israel was founded on a principle of ethnic purity
I´m sick of living in a time
when racial profiling has become acceptable
I´m sick of constantly being treated as a suspect
I´m sick of how mainstream media portrays us and our situation
I´m sick of the whole world caring about Gilad Shalit
when there are more than 7000 Palestinians inside Israeli prisons
I´m sick of trying to defend myself, friends or countrymen
and being labelled a terrorist
I´m sick of the fact that everywhere I go
I can see The Wall, a settlement or an Israeli soldier

I´m
sick of

63
years
of Israeli occupation

JONATHAN AZAZIAH: MEN DIE, LIONS RISE

April 17, 2011

By Jonathan Azaziah

Is the sky falling, are there pigs flying...

I mean, is this still the same doomed reality...

Yes, because there’s still Iraqi, Afghan,
Somali, Pakistani and Palestinian kids dying...

And yes, your eyes are truthful about this cruel brutality...

Peering through the fallacy...

They’ve put a mask on it, so it’s easier to consume the savagery...

Why they’d take him, he was a brother of peace,
like harmonious music and love...

They are the sons of the beast, executioners and Lucifer’s thugs...

Vittorio Arrigoni, it’s so hard to grasp that you are gone...

But you left here as something different
than what you were when you were born...

At birth you were a man,
but in death you became a lion...

A martyr, a hero who in life gave a voice
to those living in pain and silence...

A beacon of courage who gave everything
to expose how deep the occupation's reign of crime is...

You sought to have truth rain on the baneful tyrants...

We know that they hated you;
we know that you were a target of heavy hate...

We know that they watched you,
moving and marking your every place...

Now they want to convince us that your Palestinian family
murdered you with their own hands...

Like we aren’t familiar with the usurping entity's cold plans...

As if the ritualistic and brutal way you were murdered
didn’t give all of the clues...

As if we would let justice slip away,
as if we would be okay with them slaughtering you...

If so, they were dead wrong,
we would never believe the liar’s wisdom...

We know damn well
that Vittorio Arrigoni is a violent victim of Zionism...

He joins the martyrs of the Freedom Flotilla,
murdered on the vibrant seas...

Murdered in cold blood for striving to break the occupier's siege...

He joins Rachel Corrie,
when monsters bulldozed her,
humanity wept...

She was the definition of a pure soul,
her passing made us all wonder
how much of the world's sanity's left...

He joins Juliano Mer-Khamis,
who fought for Palestine's struggle via film...

Jenin went black when he was killed...

Masked militants, please, your stories are old...

We refuse to let your vicious hasbara
taint the memory of Vittorio's soul...

We know that IOF trains special units to pose as terrorists...

You can bulldoze our sister
but you cannot out bulldoze her memory
or bulldoze our reverence...

Bassem Abu Rahma,
and his sister Jawaher...

Heroes murdered by Israeli tear gas,
stood up to vile tyrants with not a drop of fear...

These are the lions that Vittorio rose up to join...

Their martyrdom and bravery
is the cure to the Zionist entity's colonial poison...

He was a lion who stayed with Gaza during Cast Lead...

A lion who pitied IOF,
showing them their humanity was past dead...

A lion who was tasered and imprisoned
but remained in the Strip...

Remained to expose Zionist crimes
and to show Israeli democracy is a dangerous myth...

A lion who protected children as phosphorus fell...

A lion who walked through Israel's tanks, bombs, rockets and shells...

To defend the Palestinian babies of Gaza,
now I want the media to say again...

That Palestinians murdered a man they considered their own,
what a lie, a falsehood, a dose of propaganda from hellacious men...

They can print their lies Vittorio,
through their TV shows and Zionazi papers...

But the truth will emerge,
for al-Haqq is a force that cannot be vanquished...

And when it does, the world will see...

That you lost your life at the hands of men who hated you most,
Israel is on an international murder spree...

Your mother is coming to Gaza, we will pray for her...

And when we will see her beautiful face, t
his is what we will say to her...

"Your precious son didn’t meet death;
you see he is still alive...

And when the tears fill her eyes...

We will ball too, right next to her, kneel and cry...

Umm Vittorio, men die but lions roar and rise...

And your child was a lion in every sense;
you can see his face shining in Gaza's gorgeous skies...

Your child fought for us,
and for him, we will never lose hope or flee...

Umm Vittorio, you're not alone
in burying your son because so did we...

Humanity was the language Vittorio spoke;
to his last breath, he stayed fluent...

He taught us that division
was nothing more than a strained illusion...

Rest in peace brother,
we know that you will eternally "Stay Human..."

"Al-Shaheed Vittorio!" shakes Gaza as the battlecry...

The spirit of a lion,
forever wrapped in the flag of Palestine...

JONATHAN AZAZIAH: IRAQ: EIGHT YEARS OF INFINITY

IRAQ: EIGHT YEARS OF INFINITY
A poem by Jonathan Azaziah

8 years ago today, we watched our world crumble...

Little boys incinerated by the mark-77, little girls pummeled...

Families dismembered by the cluster bombs,
so vivid in our minds...

The globe watched as we were inflicted
with the most malicious, vicious crimes...

I wonder if they even care,
I wonder if they ever will...

I wonder, in this infinity of misery
will we ever heal...
They say we should never remember,
we say that we’ll never forget...

Pain wreaks all around us,
we wonder if we’ll live better in death...

In the Garden of Eden,
instead of here,
where it used to be...

They ripped the heart out of our being,
and replaced it with fear, despair and disunity...

The world doesn’t see our tears,
they pretend our screams are silent...

This nightmare is alive,
can’t sleep every dream is violent...

Our leaders are reaming us, why?

Bleeding us dry,
telling us don’t you be defiant...
How do they look themselves in the mirror,
don’t they see the tyrant...

We know that the monsters told them to be reliant...

On whatever orders they’re given,
even after they’ve slaughtered our women
and left us all in a pool of a depleted virus...

Yeah, you guessed it, if you see us shining...

It’s not from the sun of Mesopotamia;
it’s the uranium and phosphorus...

Collateral damage?
That is a fantastical, irrational answer,
it was aimed and then just dropped on us...

The bloodthirsty men on the ground maimed us and they shot at us...

They took the Tigris and they made her bloody...

They took the Euphrates and traded her for a train of money...

When you do mass murder,
you do it with the most brutal strife...

We’re Iraqi; we don’t fall under the UN Charter’s declaration
of defending human rights...

Weapons of mass destruction?
What the hell are you telling me...?

The only weapons of mass destruction in Iraq
were dropped on us by the hellish thieves...

Running America, Britain and Tel Aviv...

Belittle us, like our minds are deranged and irrelevant...

Like we don’t know every car bomb
was produced by Israeli intelligence...

What do I tell my son?
I tell him nothing because my son is dead...

What do I tell my daughter?
I tell her nothing because she passed from being underfed...

Every devastated block, every ruined street...

Every insult, from camel-jockey to raghead,
sand nigger to stupid freak...

Every death from the sanctions,
every mother’s wailing...

Every doctor who said we’re sorry
but your brother’s failing...

Every city burned,
every village exterminated...

Every life and every killer that yearns to take it...

Every mass grave discovered beneath the rubble...

Dialects long-forgotten,
the only language that we speak is struggle...

Every missing person shackled
and left in prison for the sodomy...

2 million dead in 8 years,
that’s the American definition of democracy...

Eternally traumatized,
we feel stuck to know...

That this occupation will never truly get up and go...

Because these memories have touched our souls...

At 5:34 a.m. in Baghdad,
the monsters dropped from the rotted skies...

With a single purpose: to occupy...

Then to colonize...

Then to leave us de-Islamified...

Leave our Christian brothers and sisters stricken and horrified...

We were civilization’s cradle,
now we’re civilization’s dumping ground...

Flashbacks of Fallujah, Basra and Karbala
when lightning strikes or the thunder pounds...

How can we not be strained from enmity...?

When these 8 years contain infinity...?

How do you measure the pain of one
who lost those they love the most...?

How do you ask someone who has lost it all
to regain their love and hope...?

Setting up commissions to cover up your atrocities,
set it in a place of mitigation...
Then give us international courts,
put our fates in litigation...

But those same courts let you drop the bombs to begin with...

This system is sick in its core,
sick from the war,
sick from it all;
it doesn’t get any darker than this gets...

How do we let these people tell us how humanity’s defined...?

When all of their words are candidly comprised...

Of insanity and lies...

You talk tons of peace, double speak,
when you say rescue you really mean terrorize...

Told us you’d deliver liberation and what you delivered was genocide...

You burned our Qur’ans to give us freedom of expression...

You raped our women to free them from oppression...

You molested our children,
kidnapped them and sold them,
you snakes...

Tortured us to civilize us, black-bagged us,
masked us, gashed and eroded our faith...

5 million refugees have lost the meaning of home...

Victims of a centuries-old project
to restructure Arab lands so demons can roam...

We know you consider us inferior,
we know you call us the mistake of Ishmael...

We know our nation’s been destroyed for your Greater Israel...

We know the Zionist cancer that infected our society...

We know your democracy is enslavement,
we see your aggression in varieties...

We know Zionism’s lust for our oil fields,
you occupy us to invade and explore them...

Raze and extort them...

You started our misery on the day of your Purim...

Rabbinical siphoning of innocent Arab life...

We know that you consider us the Amalekites...

You transformed our Resistance into cowards,
our scholars and clerics into dogs...

But one thing you could not do,
was put our spirit into morgues...

Murderous persons,
we will flip the subservience,
stare in your face and cackle...

A people in bondage are preordained by destiny
to break the shackles...

And when the manacles crack,
the subjugators will run in fear...

Kirkuk to Salah ad-Din, Kut to Babel, ALLAH is all that governs here...

Najaf to Samarra, Kufa to Shula,
victory will take flight from the corpse of our misery...

What can bullets do against a people protected by an aura of dignity...?

Dhi Qar to Wasit, Anbar to Diyala,
eagles will sing and angels will cry...

When we Iraqis unite against the forces of al-shaytan,
yallah the occupation will die...

We are descendants of ancients and prophets,
Earth will shake when our pain will arise...

No respect for collaborators,
we spit on your affiliations...

We are the people of the Fertile Crescent;
we prefer martyrdom over humiliation...

Peace be upon Dawud, we are him now,
you devils and your friends can be Goliath...

We refuse to ever be compliant...

The oppressors will become dirt on the feet of the oppressed,
because we are giants...

8 years of infinity wasn’t enough to keep us silent...

When the day of triumph arrives and you see us rising...

Mountains of your greed will bury you;
guess you didn’t know that karma is hard...

And we will fly into the sunset of real liberation,
shielded by the armor of God...

Depleted uranium on your head now,
radiation will make your body gleam...

As we bow for prayer and chant Allahu Akbar wa ALLAH ma’ el sabireen...

U.S. MILITARY DIPLOMACY

FROM WOUNDED KNEE TO AFGHANISTAN

1890 Wounded Knee, South Dakota Lakota massacred by U.S. Army

March 16, 2011

A blue-coated motorcycle gang
armed with rifles and pistols
rolled into this peaceful
residential neighborhood at dawn today.
Chankpe Opi Wakpala community members
were herded
together and shot down.

Unarmed men, women and children were
pulled from their homes.
Commenting on reports that
those trying to flee were run down and
shot in the back,
one biker is quoted as saying
It was great sport
like shooting fish in a barrel.

Reports of the number killed
range from 150 to 370.

1890 Buenos Aires, Argentina- U.S. troops
intervene to protect U

1891 U.S. troops battle with nationalists in Chile

walking backward
my hidden face
does not go before me
I cannot see
the dogs of war
I hear
salt
blood and tears
dripping down
I hear
children become gravediggers
howling
boy soldiers flung into the dark
I hear
the knife
tearing cartilage between

.S. business interests
Dog of War

the ribs

I hear two lovers
one is walking backward

1891 U.S. Navy in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil to
protect American commercial interests

1892 U.S. Army kills 12 railroad workers
on strike in Chicago

1896 U.S. Marines show the colors in Corinto,
Nicaragua during political unrest

1897 U.S. military forcefully suppresses a silver
miner's strike in Idaho
driving I remember to note
sites which would be good for an ambush
walking I watch the ground for
dirt which may have been disturbed
in the laying of mines
nearly forty years later
I still expect the bullet
to hit that spot
just below my left scapula
that always itches
like a target

nearly forty years later
I remember when we were boy warriors
thrown together far from home

(gun smoke thick as fog
hot brass litter
the lamb-like small of napalm
burnt indigenous personnel
pile of bodies
slowly moving limbs in rigor
greenthick vietnamese jungle vines
sticky red clay mud in monsoon reason)

if he wasn't part of that
piece of me that couldn't come home
maybe I could
remember my friend's face
nearly forty years later

finally in each war there are no heroes only wasted victims
conscientiously objecting to another stupid useless death
(arresting warm blood torn from leaking limbs
lung rasped pink bubbles froth their breath)
how many more times is hell to be let loose
cursing youngsters we say we love best
children sacrificed who may finally see
our lies as a clear patriotic ruse

these people expect their satisfaction guaranteed
Anything less comfortable is not allowed.
Different voices we Americans seldom heed.
Simple moral questions won't be said aloud.
The leaders state that which everyone is to see
But their type of truth is just another useless root
Of that once verdant tree that should mean liberty.
That now is hacked and sadly broken underfoot
While snake oil hucksters proudly ply their ware
Selling safety and security in that old new offer.
A Potemkin vision in which everything here is fair
And if the evil die young it's their fault they suffer.

Of course, He meant only those on this side of the wall.

1990-91 First Gulf War against Iraq

American work in the Gulf War.

 .
the war was black and white
at first but then
in living color red and yellow and khaki green

brought into the living room but what was always missing
was the smell of war
my war smelled
of dying vegetation eau de agent orange
burnt gunpowder and burnt people
dark blood sweet and warm
piss shit sweat
testosterone
the same smell is found in what is left of a pizza shop
in Jerusalem
now the smell of war is in Jenin and Ramallah
piss and shit and blood
mixes with the frustrated cries
of the people
Helen Caldicott holds up
a picture of a baby with his head blown off
the smell of his head seeps up through the
concrete rubble after the tanks roll on
the same smell of piss and shit and blood
rose in the hot desert
some days after soldiers were buried
alive
the same smell at Waco when the embers died and
the smoke cleared
the same smell of
more piss and shit and blood
was found by firefighters
and police digging below the twin towers space
the same smell more piss more shit
more blood
was found near Kabul raised with the dust
by bombs from 40,000 feet
next we'll find that same smell in some new axis of evil where
the smell of oil added to the smell of dead children
added to the putrescent odor of piss and shit and blood
of war and death
should gag us all

however as Erasmus said five hundred years ago
war is sweet
to those who know it not

1991-2001 U.S. bombs Iraq hundreds of times killing
many civilians maintaining the no-fly zone

1991 U.S. Army and Marines deployed in Los Angeles
during anti-police uprising

1992-94 U.S. Army and Navy bombing and raid
during U.S. led U.N. occupation

1993-95 U.S. jets bomb Serbs in Bosnia

I will teach you how
to perform a war
a clean operation
to remove that dangerous tissue
which can no longer be controlled
we first name it cancer
we curse it for an inhuman bastard
nothing legitimate to be found
the pathologic question
must be asked and answered
weighing whether a pound of flesh will be enough
shared definitions in hand
we sharpen our knives
sanitary
chrome and steel
bright lights
remove any shadow
of doubts
patriotic anesthesia dulls the senses
common and other
to the loud cutting
ripping and
bleeding to come
once hidden viscera bloody red
broken bone white
and hypoxic blue tissue
stare out at us
unexpected collateral damage
can be dressed
with sterile white gauze
although the bloated smell
sometimes remains

afterwards
we will remove our gloves and
wash our hands

1994-96 U.S. Army and Navy blockade the nation of Haiti

1998 U.S. troops evacuate foreigners from Albania

1998 U.S. missiles attack a pharmaceutical plant in Sudan

1999 U.S. missiles attack a former CIA training camp
in Afghanistan

I think that the targeting of innocent civilians is the worst thing
about modern conflicts today. And to the extent which more and more
people seem to believe it is legitimate to target innocent civilians to reach
their larger political goals, I think that's something to be resisted at every
turn. Pres. Bill Clinton, 03-21-2000

2001 U.S forces attack Afghanistan in response to
terrorist attack by Egyptians and Saudis

I heard it on NPR
someone said we're at war
yeah that's terror
here in North America
now we get a taste of it
we get to see the other side
now our children die
now we see there are no accidents
only consequences
we gag on the dust and rubble and fumes
in New York
in Washington D.C.
in Pennsylvania
in Kabul
in Baghdad
now we gag on the truth

This poem initially was my response to the events of September 11, 2001.

Published as a chapbook by D-Press 2001, Sebastopol CA. The historical data was gathered from several sources including a website by Zoltan Grossman, the Library of Congress and the U.S. Navy historical websites. I tried to find secondary sources to assure historical accuracy but this is a poem not a history book. Errors are mine. This poem has been revised several times.

Answering a question

The first man I killed was small and
hiding in the tall grass.

Being a killer forever changes you.
Even if you learn to be kind and considerate and civilized
that part of you is always
hiding down inside
awaiting a chance.

A normal person does not want to kill and
will avoid it at all costs.
The military won't let you remain normal.
It doesn't matter if you think
you are smart enough
not to get caught up in their lies.
They will change you.

Don't be sucked into the biggest myth and lie
that dying for your country is somehow heroic

Really be all that you can be.
